| The DEH-P400UB is smartly designed to expand your system, customize your experience and provide superior sound quality and easy operation. Hear the detail, warmth and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3, WMA and AAC files stored on USB memory device, iPod and portable digital players. USB 2.0's speed and capability allow an elevated iPod experience in the car, and nearly limitless expandability for portable media players and USB memory devices.File search and access are extra-quick. The headunit keeps song, artist, time and album information displays very clear and user-friendly, and control is intuitive through the 7-Way Rotary Commander. The system's wired USB connection provides direct digital signal transfer from the iPod for clean, clear sound. In addition, Pioneer has developed the following new features to make using your iPod in the car extremely easy and convenient: link search, passenger control mode and random (shuffle) key.Use the built-in AUX input for connecting any digital portable player and other external auxiliary devices. For extra-convenient access, the DEH-P400UB has this input on the front panel.Use the optional CD-BTB200 Bluetooth Adapter and Bluetooth-enabled cellular phones for easy, safe, and hands-free operation, including talking via the headunit's microphone and your vehicle's speaker system. Surprising stereo

After much research and an extremely limited budget, I got what I wanted in a car stereo. The problem? I replaced a Pioneer I hated with a new Pioneer. Unfortunately, it was the only one of any quality that offered the features I wanted. My wants are simple. I wanted a great tuner because I enjoy both FM and AM radio. I wanted a great CD player because I have a ton of great music and finally, I wanted a stereo that easily plays Ipod's. So, I had to spring for a little extra equipment. It was worth it.
It's been all of 24 hours and so far, I am thrilled. The sound seems sharper and cleaner. The lows are deep and clean, the highs sharp and crisp. Most surprising of all is that the imaging is much better than the old system and it had an imaging feature that allowed you to adjust that for yourself. (My old stereo was fine. It was the CD player. It wouldn't eject and was a problem all along. Otherwise, I was very happy with it). The radio is everything I expected it to be and even more. What was always great is now just plain amazing.
The controls are very different and a bit disconcerting, but that's just a matter of getting used to it. I found that using the included remote control is actually simpler than trying to manipulate the controls on the stereo itself. Like I said, though, I have yet to learn it.
My car is a big, noisy van, so the most useful and appreciated feature is the EQ with six preset curves. It makes it so much easier to hear, especially when listening to talk radio or the news. Voices are sharp and clear when set to the "voice" setting. Like most new systems, it puts a lot of emphasis on bass control and input, but it is not forced on you. It is there if you need it, but if you don't like you Dylan with extra boom, you don't have to have it. I love that. The EQ also allows you to create your own curves and saves them, as well.
So far, I am very impressed. I'll write another review if I change my mind, or learn anything noteworthy.

| I just want to say that I love this system and this is my first pioneer system. I just want to point out it will play with ANY Mp3 player and not just IPOD's. So don't go waste your money on a IPOD If you already got a mp3 player, alot of review sites fell to metion that making IPOD the center of attention. I have a Creative 2GB so it works and sounds great. Also it sounds great on my factory speakers but, getting ready to upgrade them to make it sound better. As for the controls...It does takes time to get used to but, thank god for the manual. The remote does help lots while driving. As for options, It has so many options that you will be there for every for the right sound for you and that is a good thing :). |

This radio works great and sounds just as great as well. This is my very first Pioneer ever so I had to read the manual to know how to make it work the way I wanted to. Once you get the hang of it, everything is OK.
The reason I got this radio instead of any other is because it's made for iPod... and my iPod is my life! so it's cool you can go through your playlist and genres and artist and everything just like in your iPod. The only con is that it "blocks" your iPod, so you can't use your iPod while it's connected to the radio. This is a con because when you have to scroll a lot, is a little difficult doing so in the radio. Other than that, this radio works just as expected. The iPod battery gets charged while it's connected, so that's a plus for a long ride.
I've also tried the radio using my jumpdrive straight into the usb port. The mp3 files shows you even more information than from your iPod, so it's cool!!
Bottom line.. if you want a car stereo that will play the songs you have on your iPod or some jumpdrive.. this is totally the one you should get. If you have a Zune or some other player, you can plug it into the Aux input at the front!!! haven't tried that yet. |

| What sells this product for me is the USB/iPod interface and the power output. I like the sound and the features. Things I don't like are the faceplate interface and the way the faceplate comes off/on. But those are minor things compared to what I do like. |
